The ABC of Peking University MOOC about Robot You Must Know
In order to promote the popularization of robot knowledge, Professor Guangming Xie has offered a course named Charming Robots at Peking University since 2012. Once the course is offered, it has attracted the attention of professional students from various departments of Peking University. Now, the MOOC version of this classic course has been registered at the Chinese University MOOC!

The robot developed by the laboratory has become one of the highlights of the Peking University Campus Open Day promotional film.
On May 18th, the laboratory participated in the 2019 Campus Open Day of Peking University, and demonstrated the scientific research results of the laboratory's intelligent robots and robotic fish in the Yingjie Communication Center.
Laboratory member Tianhao Zhang led the team to win the DeeCamp Best Team Award this year at the 2019 DeeCamp Artificial Intelligence Training Camp.
The 2019 DeeCamp Artificial Intelligence Training Camp Achievement Show and Couture Ceremony was held at the Yanqi Lake Campus of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. In the past four weeks, the participants completed 50 AI-related projects initiated by 22 companies, and received a total of 115 from Counseling for technical leaders and engineers of the company. A team led by Dr. Zhang Tianyi from the laboratory successfully built a high-margin AI landlord product from 0 to 1, in just three weeks, and won the DeeCamp Best Team Award this year.
Laboratory robot fish participated in the 16th International Cultural Festival of Peking University
Peking University celebrated its International Culture Festival 2019 on Saturday, 19 October, themed "A World without Borders, The Future is Now".
The laboratory robot fish participated in the special experience of “cutting-edge” planned by Peking University's GeekLab.
Robotic Fishes Swim in Weiming Lake of Peking University to Present a Unique Blessing to the 120th Anniversary of Peking University.
As a song which has always been spread in Peking University, “Weiming Lake is an ocean. The poets are hiding in the sea. If the souls are fish, they will leap from the water...”. On May 4th, for celebrating the 120th anniversary of Peking University, a group of students from the Intelligent Bionic Design Lab (IBDL) of Peking University took a smart fish robot to swim in Weiming Lake of Peking University. In this way, they presented a unique feeling of blessing to the 120th anniversary of Peking University.
Laboratory Member Zheng Junzheng Participated in the "Scientific Spirit in China" Theme Forum.
On September 26, 2018, laboratory member Zheng Junzheng, the president of Peking University Robotics Association, participated in the "Scientific Spirit in China" theme forum. This large-scale public welfare event was hosted by Science and Technology Daily and The-Intellectual. The main purpose of the activity is to promote the scientific spirit, disseminate scientific ideas, help the public to improve their scientific literacy, and create a good atmosphere for innovation.
The Multi-UAV Formation Cruising for the 120th Anniversary of Peking University
On April 30th, 2018, College of Engineering (COE) presented the performance “Air”——which was part of the project “Sea, Land and Air”, a gift for the 120th anniversary of Peking University. The video of the autonomous cooperative formation of the unmanned aerial vehicles group was displayed on the large screen of the Youth Playground and the No. 1 building of COE.
The First Time to Measure Water Quality in Antarctica Area by Dual-fin Fish Robot
The China’s 31st Antarctic expedition team starts from October 30, 2014, after lasting for 163 days, all kinds of scientific tasks have been completed successfully .The reconfigurable dual-fin fish robot is developed by the Intelligent Biomimetic Design Laboratory of the College of Engineering of Peking University. And it is the first time to succeed in sailing in the Antarctic area and successfully access some concerned water data.
Boxfish-like Robot
Boxfish is named for its box-shaped external feature. Differing from other species of fish, the main body of boxfish is enclosed in a prismatic shell which is not streamlined. There are chiseled spine structures at the edge of the shell. The outer surfaces between adjacent spines have concave and convex extents. Such a special outer structure accounts for the excellent maneuverability and stability of boxfish. The boxfish-like robot is inspired by a species of cube boxfish (Ostracion cubicus). Using the boxfish-like robot, our group has conducted researches on lateral line inspired sensing, bio-inspired electrocommunication, underwater robot localization, autonomous swimming gait optimization, etc.
Robo-Shark Underwater Robot
The Robo-Shark is a prototype of the Carangidae, and it is the first generation of industrial underwater bionic robots in China. The Robo-Shark has features such as low power consumption, high propulsion speed, and flexible steering, which can meet long-term navigation and large-scale underwater operation requirements, and has become a research hotspot in the underwater submarine field.
The Single-joint Robotic Fish
The single-joint robotic fish mimics the tail fin swing pattern of real fish in nature. Each of its components adopts a modular design and has a waterproof function. The movement modes include free swimming based on bionic tail fin propulsion and APP wireless remote motion based on WiFi network.
The Bionic Koi
The bionic koi is a three joint robotic fish developed by the Intelligent Biomimetic Design Lab of Peking University.
